The Heart Of the Storm

After the angry looking gust front ([link]) passed over head, I decided to wait around a few minutes to see what kind of action was in store. I packed my camera equipment up and put it in my truck, when this sunset expectantly broke through the base of the clouds. The sun had finally reached low enough in the eastern sky to shine an extreme fiery red and orange glow under the cold and violent looking clouds. I quickly ran back to the truck, turned the headlights on and shot as many pictures as I could to capture this amazing lighting effect that occurred over the span of maybe 3 to 5 minutes. It really felt like you were in the belly of a beast!

I this case, the light itself is the subject matter and really what I want to share. Sometimes I scramble to find something to place in the foreground, but the beauty of the colors and light alone was awesome unto itself!
