Western Oklahoma

Self-reliance is alive and well through many parts of this country and dead in many other areas. It is/was one of the characteristics that helped build this great nation and helped sparked innovation, competition, and creativity. People seem to be forgetting the pioneer spirit to overcome hardships by hard work and self-responsibility and rely on themselves to achieve their goals and not wait on handouts or ruling bodies to provide everything from the cradle to the grave.

The windmill in this picture reminds me of the pioneer spirit, that brought us the creation and innovation to harness our surroundings to increase the quality of life through hard work, self-responsibility, and self-reliance.

Wow, very nice composition! The classic windmill accompanied by those beautiful rays... a common country scene, but rarely captured to this degree of accuracy. Love the natural colors

Great picture, and I completely agree with your thoughts.

I love the composition and the title. I come from a farming family, and we would not be here had my ancestors not displayed tremendous self reliance. We're going to need more of that if the economic climate continues to turn down. I hope that you will take the time to visit my gallery and check out some of my landscapes and skyscapes. I update it quite often. Thanks for sharing!
